Core Code of Conduct Policy#

  1. Scope and Authority
    1.1. The purpose of this policy is to define the core code of conduct as adopted and approved by the Penguicon Board of Directors as of 11/24/2025. This policy serves as a core policy to apply to all events sponsored or related to Penguicon including and not limited to main Penguicon convention, online spaces, or related gatherings.
  2. Policy
    2.1. Penguicon retains the right, at any time and with or without refund, to remove anyone from an event for reasons including but not limited to:
    2.1.1. Generally being disruptive to the event
    2.1.2. Violation of this Code of Conduct
    2.1.3. Compromising the safety of other attendees
    2.1.4. Failing to comply with event specific rules
    2.2. Penguicon retains the right to restrict the attendance of individuals from future events for reasons including but not limited to:
    2.2.1. Conduct at Penguicon events
    2.2.2. Conduct outside of Penguicon events deemed pertinent by the Board of Directors
    2.3. Attendees of Penguicon events, virtual or in person, are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is safe and respectful of all participants of the event, including that Attendees:
    2.3.1. Will not hinder other attendees participation
    2.3.2. Will respect other attendees bodily autonomy, and only engage in consensual physical contact
    2.3.3. Will obtain individual’s consent before taking videos, photographs, or any type of recordings
    2.3.4. Will respect other attendees wishes to be left alone or unbothered
    2.3.5. Will follow all laws of the region where the event is being held
    2.3.6. Will follow all rules for the event set by the event organizer
    2.4. Attendees of Penguicon events will respect the health and safety of other attendees by:
    2.4.1. Refraining from attending an in person event if they have a communicable disease (refunds are negotiable in these circumstances)
    2.4.2. Allowing other attendees to use accessibility aids unbothered
    2.4.3. Respecting attendees choice to wear face masks
    2.5. Anyone asked to stop any unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately
    2.6. In addition to the core code of conduct, event organizers are authorized to establish event specific rules
    2.6.1. Rules must be documented in writing
    2.6.2. Rules must be made accessible to attendees
    2.6.3. Rules cannot nullify this code of conduct
    2.6.4. Event rules need to include a copy of this code of conduct=
    2.7. Event organizers for events with more than 100 attendees need to provide attendees with:
    2.7.1. Copy of the code of conduct and event specific rules
    2.7.2. Contact information for reporting misconduct
